This tank was erected in during the mid 1980’s as a life line and gathering place for the remaining bush aborigines. Nearby is an old
native well. This area is where the Pintubi nine were met in 1984.
Dick Kimber recalled having been in this area in 1985 where he had a
camp with several of the men who wanted to return to the bush. He found remnants of that sit down meeting including old billy lids, pannikins and tins on a recent visit.
The water here is incredibly sweet sand is a good place to top off your drinking water. This is always a wise thing to do as you can never be certain of the quality of the water further on the track.
