Googs Track
Check with local authorities before travelling
| Section/Road/Track | Status | Comments |

| Googs Track - Tarcoola to Ceduna | Caution |
From the Malbooma Telstra tower through to the sign board at the start of the track is HEAVILY corrugated.
Once on the track these corrugations disappear for those travelling south. However the southern side of most dunes is also Heavily corrugated / potholed. The track itself is quite firm, requiring high 4 only.
From Goog Lakes to Lone Oak Homestead the corrugations set in again for most of the run. Can''''t stress enough the need for a UHF radio - set to Ch. 18 AND all vehicles should carry a flag. Crests of dunes have been badly chewed up.
Track from lakes to rockholes towards dog fence VERY corrugated
If starting from northern end beware of potholes on southern sides of dunes & start early in the morning to arrive at the lakes prior to dark.
Some steep dunes near Malbooma

Nullarbor to Vokes Hill Corner
| Section/Road/Track | Status | Comments |
|---|
| Cook - Vokes Hill Corner | Open 4WD |
The south end (60km) is extremely undulating and rough due to the close to surface rock. From the Tanks to the Oak Valley turn off the track thru the sandhill swales is in reasonable to good condition. Beware of blind corners and crests. From Oak Valley crossroad to Vokes Hill Corner the road is extremely corrugated. Remember access permits are needed from Maralinga Tjarutja, also be careful of "local" vehicles.

| Nullarbor - Cook | Open |
Cook-Eyre Highway - Bulldust holes have become hollows. Beware of the large jagged Lime & Iron Rock which can be notorious on tyres. Generally the track is in good condition

For more info on the Trans Continental Railway access track please see the
WA Road Conditions - Trans Continental Railway Service Access Track page and also the
Permits page as plans are underway through SA government officials to find a workable solution.

Now a private road owned by the Australian Rail Track Authority. Access is strictly prohibited. Liability Risk and no maintenance on the track. Don't bother ringing them as permission will be bluntly denied. Should you be found on this track requiring breakdown assistance from rail staff or passing trains you will find a hefty fine. This information is first-hand. Michelle has spoken with the CEO of the Australian Rail Track Authority personally.
