 Description

This track connects 3 historic copper mines, namely Sliding Rock Mine, Nuccaleena Mine, and Blinman Mine. During the 1870’s when all of these mines were started, this route was the main one that travellers could use, to access the Mail Coach. The Mail service ran on a weekly basis from Adelaide to Blinman and return. There is a 6.6 kilometre return diversion off the main track to Nuccaleena Mine.

 History

This is a one way track that follows the old road that once connected Sliding Rock town with Blinman in the 1870s. During this period Sliding Rock had a weekly mail coach connection to Adelaide. A short leg of the main track also leads to Nuccaleena mine. The track was made in the 1870’s when there were larger towns at Sliding Rock and Blinman.

In 2006 the track crosses through landholder properties of Warraweena, Morillah and Moolooloo Stations and access is in partnership with the Slade Family who own the latter two stations. Sheep is the main produce of these stations.
