Holden4th NP Di-D auto Pajero with two passengers, a roof rack and well loaded. Travelled from Birdsville to Mt Dare on the QAA French Line 28/6. The sand was very soft but previous trekkers had made the dune crestings a bit easier. Wanted to do the trip on less than a tank of fuel (90L) but had to fill up on the third day. Used 95.4L when I filled up at Mt Dare ($1.92L)
This is not too hard a trek if you are well prepared. Make sure that everything is very well secured as many of the dunes were badly scalloped towrads the top. As I write this I believe that the French Line is getting it's first rain for nearly two years. It needs it.

Member - Jim This data represents the fuel we used from Oodnadatta to Birdsville via the French line. The Vehicle is a manual 100 series Turbo Diesel Landcruiser. We had five aadult sized people on board with 100 litres of water and food etc for two weeks. Although we were travelling with others we were fully self sufficient. travelling with us were a normally aspirated 4.2 L diesel patrol (used 98 litre, 2 people) a 2.8 litre Hilux (used 80 litres, 3 people) and a 4.5 L 100 Series Cruiser (used 175 litres, 4 people)

Clmark From Mt. Dare to Birdsville, 10/13 aug. 2004 with Land Cruiser 100 diesel full loaded. Desert covered by wild flowers.
Fantastic trip without any problem, sand was quite compact except some dunes before Poeppel Corner soft. Slow driving between Purni Bore and Poeppel Corner average 20k.

Martyn&Gail QAA/Frenchline East to West Birdsville to Oodnadatta 2 Adults 3 Kids. '05 Rodeo guessing a little under 3 ton, springs were no match for carring 115 litres of fuel and 60 litres of water in the ute body-bumpy ride to start with! Tyres ran at 20psi front and 25psi rear. Dunes were shorter but more fun as we got closer to Purni Bore. No problems at all not even a flat tyre after travelling 5200 klm. "Away From All Confusion"
