Around Well 30 the track wanders through some nice heavily wooded areas

Well 33 (Kunawarritji) to Well 44Caution From Well 33 north to Well 36 the track is extremely corrugated and has some rough stony sections and outcrops.
From Well Well 39 to Well 40 the track crosses over Tobin Lake which is dry at the moment but can be a serious challenge when wet.

Well 44 to Tanami Rd (Billiluna)Open 4WD A very easy drive at the moment trough Desert oaks. Good water available at Well 46 and Well 49.
There is a burnt out Ford Explorer between Well 48 & 49 showing what a ''''''''''''''''Spinifex/exhaust'''''''''''''''' fire can do to a vehicle.

Well 5 Access from Granite PeakOpen 4WD The track is maintained by the station owner and is in good condition. There is a $20 fee per vehicle.

Well 9 to Water 17 & DurbaOpen 4WD The track is in good condition. It has been graded from Well 9 to just short of Well 15. This is now becoming very corrugated. Durba Spring is a beautiful spot.

Wiluna to Well 5Open 4WD The track within the Cunyu Station is rough dry and dusty and has washed out sections. Well 3 is restored and the water is good although has a H2S odour. Windich Springs is beautiful with aquatic and bird life. Well 5 has been restored.

 Great Central Road

The road is very well maintained and is easy travelling for 4WD vehicles other than sections of corrugations and soft sand drifts. Road is wide and occasionally graded allowing fast, easy driving. Conditions change from flat and smooth to sections of corrugations to sections of channels of sand, but are no problem to a 4WD, and only a slight problem at sandy sections for 2WD.

 Trans Continental Railway Service Access Track

Note - the only section of the Trans Continental Railway access track that is open to the public is between Kalgoorlie and Rawlinna (WA) however in SA, you can travel as far as the extra few km past Tarcoola to pick up the Googs Track turnoff.

Rawlinna - Tarcoola Closed Now a private road owned by the Australian Rail Track Authority. Access is strictly prohibited. Liability Risk and no maintenance on the track. Don''''t bother ringing them as permission will be bluntly denied. Should you be found on this track requiring breakdown assistance from rail staff or passing trains you will find a hefty fine. This information is first-hand. Michelle has spoken with the CEO of the Australian Rail Track Authority personally.
