Day 10
Re-stocked, clean clothes and feeling good to be back on the road again we head for Halls creek and a refuel, then only a few klms to Mary Pool, a short day as we don’t have to be in Broome till the 13th and it’s not going to take that long from here.

Our site at Mary Pool. That will be the kettle going on for a well earned cuppa. This shot doesn’t really show how busy this place gets and with only 1 toilet block that I saw …… busy.

Day 11
Another short day, only about 3hrs on the road today. As we are refueling at Fitzroy Crossing I get a message from my sister asking us if we are close. This is the first we have heard from them since leaving home and we tell them where we will be staying tonight and that we will see them soon. Our booking at the Broome Bird Observatory is for the 13th & 14th only, so I give them a ring to see if we can come in a day early. The answer is yes no problems so I relay this info to my sister and we head off again. This is the earliest we have arrived at a camp site, midday. We are at the Ellendale rest area and can pretty much take our pick of position, and pull up along the back fence to take advantage of the view. We stopped earlier and collected some wood from the side of the road so tonight we will have a fire.

Jen waiting for the sun to go down so we can get our fire started.
Later in the afternoon another Victorian from Gippsland set up camp next to us and we get talking over a few beers, then a few wines and before you know it we’ve missed dinner but the fire is going great as our new found friends have some redgum to donate as we have gone thru all the wood we collected. It was a late night but a good one and we all head off to bed.
