The Australian Capital Territory
(ACT) is located in south-east Australia
. It is 145 kilometres from the coast, 306 kilometres by road to Sydney
and 655 kilometres by road to Melbourne
. The Australian Government took possession of 2357km2 of land from New South Wales
(NSW) in 1911 to form the Australian Capital Territory
as the site for the Australian national capital. The majority of the population
live in Canberra

's national history, pride and identity with all the necessary icons such as the Royal Australian Mint, National Museum, Parliament House
, National Art Gallery, National Library of Australia

and so on.
The weather in the ACT is varied. During Summer temperatures have reached 42° C, however usually in the mid 30°C range. During Winter the temperature is usually around 10-22° C during the day and down to -6° C at night. In most years there are light snowfalls in winter. Strong winds are also frequent, especially during Spring (Sept, Oct, Nov) mainly from the west and north-west.
Much of the ACT is set aside for nature reserves
. Consequently, the ACT has a wide variety of flora and fauna. Wineries, country retreats and wide open spaces typify the region, however there is limited information about four wheel driving locations in this tiny territory.
