Thanks - a reminder of good times. If I can add..... travel insurance often includes cover for vehicle excess & an option to increase it. Mighty Campers have cheaper camper vans than the big names. If you want to use free camping get a van with a loo. Queenstown - park on the Glenorchy road & enjoy the walk along the lake back in; and for groceries use the supermarkets in the suburbs.

Thanks Mick. We are leaving tomorrow firstly for Niue - a NZ dependent pacific Island, for two weeks and then NZ for 10 days. We have our camper booked and our route decided (roughly). So I think we are set. Thanks again.

You could also ask your travel agent to see if you can get a "drive back" where the van needs to be driven back to Auckland say from Christchurch or Queenstown. We did it once and they paid for our fuel and ferry crossing but that was years ago..worth looking at tho...its just that you can't go tiki touring all over the place and expected to get there within a reasonable amount of time Regards Graeme

Hi Mick, Do you mind giving an indication of hire costs. Looked up the Maui website and it appears to be about NZ$250pd for base vehicle. I know that RACWA have a 10% discount deal with Britz/Maui but wondered if there were other deals available. thanks, Trevor
