The Samson Fish

Common in WA, it is found over reefs and waters up to 50m deep. Fairly stout fish uniformly coloured in bronze to grey-green across the back. Revered for its excellent sport and table qualities.

 Catching a Samson Fish

Use large, live or strip baits of squid or fish, cast, jig or troll lures and focus towards the bottom. Berley is usually responded well

Very powerful game fish that fights aggressively when hooked

Tackle

10 - 30kg line. 5 - 10 hooks. Light to medium paternoster rig for jigging and bait fishing

Yellowtail, Pilchard, Slimy mackerel (blue), Squid
