Hi there,
I just got back from the bush following the Carnegie Line from Old Halls Creek to Mount Webb.
The team and I visted many new places, 5 4wds and 3 quad bikes.
The quads travelled the entire route of Carnegies from Near Lake Gregory to Mount Webb, with the 4wds acting as backup support on the tracks. Sturt Creek was great with many large waterholes.
Some Pictures:

It was great to visit many of Carnegies features.
Thanks to Walmajarri People, Tjamu Tjamu People and Parna Ngururrpa People and Jim and Sarah from Sturt Creek Station for allowing access to their lands.
Cheers
Alan

hi alan
thanks for displaying your magnificent pictures
what fantastic scenery there is out there and to think Carnegie didn't have 4wds or squads when he experienced the epic journey as an explorer
it makes one realise
how tough he was and he had to find his next water source and some food as he went
and didn't have a gps mapping system
just a compass or the stars and a great sense of direction
its certainly rugged terrain outback but has such beauty that has shown up in your pics
palm spring is an oasis and my favourite
but in saying that
they are all great
thanks barry

Hi David Carnegie jnr,

Well done my friend, well done. What fabulous photos you've shown us and what a fantastic bit of country you travelled. It all goes to show you really know how to put together an adventure.

As Dunc says we look forward to more photos and reading.

Again congratulations.

Hi Alan,

Welcome home.

Yet another one to scratch off the 'bucket list'..the photo's are terrific, as I would expect. Had a visit from Mick O yesterday afternoon and he tells me he has about 4000 photo's to assess from the trip!!! -I would imaging that JDub would have double, plus copious video's too..lol

Great to hear that all went well, guess you are planning for the next big trip already.

Shame I couldn't make it. Catch up soon.

Man you are lucky...I've got parts I didn't know could get chaffed!!! What a trip. 5 litres of water a day & still lost 12 Kgs! Damn hard country but unforgettable, a FINE trip Al. Cheers,

Mick.

P.s. still not home...maybe tomorrow.

Hi Mick
I followed you guys with envy everyday on SPOT, what an adventure you guys had. Al's pics show some amazing country, just awesome.

As for loosing weight maybe it was the lack of vino and the body's allergic reaction to having to drink water - lol.

I so wish I could have joined you guys out there.

All the best for the trip home.

Fantastic trip you had Alan.

We have just got back from some virgin territory in the north Simpson and it was quite different from your photos - nearly 200km of driving without any rocks or water at all just endless sand moguls - whereas yours has some very picture perfect rock outcrops and water holes.

All the best to the whole team - its a great country to explore !

I was doing work for a builder mate we travel with and he found a Sydney Daily Telegraph from August 1957.

There is a feature story in it about a scientific expedition that went out to Lake Mackay to study the natives.
They were driving a Jeep and had RAAF support for their supplies.

That would have been an epic trip by anyone's standards back then.
I'll try and get some info if you want.

Hi Steve,
I'm always interested to read about previous expeditions in the area thanks.
Your mate possibly could be referring to the first story in the following link though they used Landrovers.

The diary does say a jeep and trailer accompanied them. Interesting stuff, thanks.
