I used a cover on our second full height van for about 18 months. By that time the cover had some holes in it and had damaged parts of the van surface.
Personally I think they are more trouble than they are worth. Your would be better of to just wash and polish the van every 12 months to keep it looking good.
Caravans are designed to be out in the weather.

I find the covers from Camec are reasonable - but as stated, they are a pain to throw over the van.
I have been told not to go on the roof of my current van so I need to wait for someone to assist me to get my cover on these days.
I wouldn't bother but for the fact that my last two awnings have delaminated, so they definitely need protection if you wish to prolong their life.
Cheers - Phil

Avoid the soft
grey Prestige cover in my view...in harsh UV its a poor performer (we barely got 18 months before disintegration on top)..waterproofing and breathability are good but UV resistance needs to last years for the $$$.

I personally would give a
caravan cover a miss. Friend living in
Brisbane purchased a name brand? and with a roof top air conditioner, the plastic on the top of the ac buckled in the heat. You probably do not have roof top air, but to me plastic roof vents may go the same way.
He had one on a previous van, and even thought it was a soft type cover, wind moved the cover around and the front and back edges of the van, looked like they had been rubbed down with fine sandpaper. Had to have the van repainted at the wear marks prior to sale.

Sounds similar to my experience, no melting of AC unit but the abrasion of the paint where the cover moved in the wind.
Like I mentioned earlier, a yearly wash and polish would be cheaper and probably work better that getting surface damage.
