Hello again,

Continuing on from my last post https://www.exploroz.com/forum/134695/exploring-arnhem-land

So the 3rd phase of our trip is taking us from Darwin to Broome and trying to come up with the best route to take.

We want to do Gibb river road so we can visit Mitchell Falls & all the stations along the way

But we also would like to visit Purnululu & Fitzroy River

Is the GN hwy worth taking? We can possibly visit Purnululu and back track to Victoria hwy if there isn't much to see. is Wolfe Creek worth the round trip?

We've got around 3 weeks to do the trip.

Yes, do both the Gibb River Road and the Great Northern Highway. Purnululu is a must, and Geikie Gorge near Fitzroy Crossing is also worth seeing (a boat rider up the gorge is the only way and it is not costly). Two easy days on the highway as a double up.

Alternatively as we were continuing one, this is how we did it (travelling west to east). From the west we went to Fitzroy Crossing and Geikie Gorge, backtracking a little to take the Fairfield-Leopold Downs Road to see Tunnel Creek and Windjana Gorge, the joining the Gibb River Road to continue north east. We then did a special trip to Purnululu for a few days, leaving our caravan where we were staying in Kununurra.
