Hi everyone! After doing 7 months o the road in 2015 we have just upgraded the Cub spacevan to a 20ft Olympic Kingfisher and as a result want to upgrade from melamine thrown in the camper cupboard to something a bit more organised and nice now we are glamping!! I have looked at the Corelle dinnersets made by Corningware as they are light and chip/break resistant. But hubby thought they felt thin and vulnerable. What does everyone else use? Thanks in advance.

Stainless steel, best to buy them at your local Indian store.

I avoid steel plates - food in them the goes cold too quickly and can be too hot to hold.

Corelle every time. Durable, heat resistant, microwaveable (you do have a microwave in your new Taj Mahal, don't you? :-) Being an ex camper, you'd probably know this, but square for the plates, not round, as square is more space efficient and can be more easily made to not shake, rattle and roll while travelling.

Cheers

We found Corelle so good that we are now using it as our standard everyday use crockery at home as well.

Frank P......Yes we have a microwave in the van. I chose Corelle and hubby said square would be best to fit in cupboard so I think we are on the right track. Thanks for that!

Corelle for me, .....with a piece/section of that anti slip matting between the plates then the bread and butter plates then then the soup bowls......works for us!

Always used Corelle, only ever broken them through my own stupidity. Light strong and thin so don't take up much room.

A few yrs ago my wife changed our plates at home to corelle yes they did fell flimsy at first but their the complete opposite their strong and light compared to our more expensive set I would definitely recommend them over standard plates.

Storage would depend on if you travel off road or stick to the tar and the amount of room you have, You can use racks that plates individually stand up in or place something between them laying flat.

Hi Tas Tourers
I have used Corelle dishes for more than 20 years and never had a breakage despite some pretty rugged roads. I have made a slotted cloth bag and keep them from moving using non slip packing when we do rough trips
Yes we use the square plates and bowls.
As for cups I like ones with no handles for ease of packing. I recently trialled the double glass wall coffee mugs and they work a treat. Drinks stay cold or hot, no burnt hands, no coffee/tea stains and they are robust.

And yes I use Corelle in my home too.

Enjoy

Another vote for corelle. Ours just sit flat in the cupboard even on the roughest roads and we have never had a breakage. They nest well and don't jump around in our cupboard. However we like glass for wine and decent china mugs for coffee and tea. None of those have broken either - on the worst tracks we just shove a couple of tea towels in among them. If your van has half decent suspension you don't need to fuss too much.Just enjoy your glamping! Lynne
