I'm in the market for a new solar panel, probably around 150w. I already have a Ctek D250s in the vehicle that controls the alternator voltage going into my 2nd battery. I plan to plug the solar panel into this, which means I don't need a regulator on the solar panel. My question is are there panels available that don't come with a regulator as I would be paying for something I don't need or do they always have one fitted?

Without commenting on whether your Ctek D250 can handle solar input I believe you can buy panels from Kickass without a regulator.

Yes, no problems just buying the panels - work out the dimensions you want, and the wattage you want, and search EBay for a suitable glass mono panel. I'm still a bit wary of the flexible panels - seen more fail than succeed so far, but maybe thats just bad luck.
I have a 65W on the roof of the Tvan going through a D250S, a 100W on the roof of the car going thru a Projecta IDC25 and 240W solar also going through an IDC25 on our caravan. They all work
well.

I've dealt with Lowe Energy Developments in Vic (100 watt folding portable panel with reg..had it for years now)...found them reliable for quality and value (there are of course others doing the same)...they have panels with and without regs...you might get free freight too.

Hi Cruznoz, yes a second recommendation for Low Energy Developements ,have bought 6 of various sizes and all work
well , I too run them through Ctek 250 S and also the Projector DcDc 25 ,not in the same system of course .They have no regulator on the panel so it suits those chargers ,also
check all sellers on Ebay as they sell the same panels at different prices and most now have free delivery .

Thanks everyone for your responses. I'll look into the panels you suggested.

I'm in the market for a solar system for my slide-on. I see that Adventure Kings have a 250w (2X125w) system that seems OK, but it is so cheap at $389, I wonder if they are any good. Anyone else tried their stuff?. Is it OK?

Re Solar Panels and Ctek.
I had the same question so I sent e-mail to Ctek Sweden.
His response was to take any existing regulators out of the circuit to the Ctek and let its regulator do the work. No problems since.
As I have a folding panel I was able to tap in the cables that joined each panel to the regulator so as I can now get the panel to provided regulated or unregulated power when I need it.
