Pooncarie fuel availability

Good morning fellow Explorers.I am planning a motorcycle trip through western NSW in May.
Would anyone know if there is petrol available at Pooncarie (and what grades?).
Fuel Map and Petrol Spy give conflicting info.
Thanks and have a great day.

Keith the 'Port Pitstop' or Pooncarie General Store as it's more commonly known, has both diesel and unleaded (90 and 95). Their phone number is 03 50295267.

Safe travels.

It would be nice if you added Pooncarie into Petrol Spy when you eyeball it.

when I look at Petrol Spy Australia I do not see any service station info for Pooncarie. If you get there and eyeball the address and prices, can you please add the service station and prices to Petrol Spy. This is a site that relies upon people like us to update it.

For these sorts of questions, remember to use the Places section of this website. Click the map and zoom into the area and look around the symbols on the map. You can click each symbol to get more information. In this case, you'll find Port Pitstop in Pooncarie is the local fuel stop also providing other services.

Click the Description panel and notice a tab to click to Nearby Places - this is also handy.

NOTE: If you have the ExplorOz Traveller app, you also have access to this same data whether you are offline or online.

My wife and I rode our bikes through Pooncarie back in December, no issues with the premium fuel we got from the general store there at all, the bikes ran perfectly. Some good roads up there for the bikes, although we had a pretty tough day where it took us 5 hours to travel 170km. If you are heading off road, as we did, it might pay to ask about the road conditions when you are at the general store. When we were there the owners were away on holidays for a few weeks so the lady that we spoke with wasn't really aware of the road conditions in the area, which is understandable.

We travelled from Pooncarie up the western side of the Darling River up to Bindara Station and across to the Silver City Highway. My parents had travelled the same road a few years earlier in their motorhome without any issues, however when we travelled on it there was a lot of sand on the section up to Bindara. Sand is a very tough gig on a big heavy bike.... The section from Bindara across to the Silver City Highway was pretty good in that it didn't have much sand, but it was very rough/corrugated and further along there was a grader doing some work which made conditions pretty tough as well. It was a 38 degree day which made things a bit more difficult. But at the end of the day we were both very happy that we managed to get through and it felt like a good achievement for both of us.
