Has anyone heard from Bob Y. He stayed the night at Rawlinna and his tracker now has him 35 odd kilometres north of Rawlinna on the Connie Sue Highway and not moving in the past 5 days. He is near Premier Downs Station but appears to be on the highway. Chris

Hi Chris, Bob owes us all a report on the Warburton Crossing. He said he'd be there late May. Perhaps a lack of reception......W

Hi Warrie

There is 100% Telstra phone reception at Rawlinna.

Cheers

He responded to a follow up of mine on the 09/06/18 at 07.52 he was then at Rawlinna and it was raining. He said that he would be refuelling at well 33 on the way to Newman in about a week but nothing since then.

Yes Chris,

Tracker still shows him on the Connie Sue near Premier Downs but it does indicate "Distance today 8km" but I cannot determine which day.
Perhaps the track is too wet and Bob is staying put until it dries a bit.

But I would not be too worried as Bob has spent his life on stations and knows how to manage the Outback.

He travels with a Sat phone. If he needed help he'd contact his wife, at least.

The above responses make the assumption that he is capable of responding.
If he has, for example, suffered an injury, is pinned under the vehicle or had a medical emergency, he may not be able to summon help.
Chris, I wonder if you could ring his wife at Winton or if anyone at Premier Downs is prepared to check the situation given he is a short distance from their front gate
Cheers

I think he's ok. Here he is, on the move on the Punmu Rd, west of Kunnawarritji:

Bob is travelling with others Andrew so I reckon they would have missed him if he wasn't at camp that night.

I spoke to his wife today and he called her last night. They're well up the Canning and he should have phone service today. He's going to have a laugh when he reads this post.

We can all relax.

Steve.

Been on the road myself so I have not loged on for a while. Now I see Bob is up past the Telfar mine.
I use a Spot device which send your position every 5 minutes and uses satellites. I am thinking Bob is using an android device which I think needs mobile reception to up load the position data. As you get phone reception as you pass the Telfar mine this is why we now see his track, no phone reception between Rawlinna and Telfar.
So if you want to follow someone you need to know what sort of device they have.
Looks like Bob is on his way to the ball at DQB.

Chris, Allan, Warrie, Harry, Stephen, Andrew, Steve et al,

Many thanks for looking out for me, but I have been okay, sleeping well, eating now & again, drinking a variety of fluids and travelling with 3 other vehicles and 4 good blokes(same crew who did the Hill & Geocentre last June). We are at Auski Roadhouse, departing for Marble Bar, then Carrawine Gorge.Telfer Road, Gary Junction & Sandy Blight to Ayers Rock, where we will no doubt go our seperate ways.

Member Cuppa advised he was tracking me as far as Rudall, then faded into the ether.

The V8 is going well, changed a fuel filter in Karijini, chopped wall out of a rear Toyo AT II in Rudall & nicked sidewall on other rear driving off Mt Meharry. Fuel consumption has varied between low 13’s to about 16L/100. Fuel costs were usual high @ Kunawirritji of $3.40 down to $1.43 at Puma, in Ceduna.

Warburton was still wet on 29th, and was unable to get into the main channel. Best advice now would be to ring Peter Nunn, manager of Clifton Hills. Apologies for the delay. LOL

Thanks once again Everyone, you’re good blokes.

Bob

Enjoyed a great trip with Bob and 2 other vehicle, 5 blokes, around 11000km covered so far plus some individual travel to / from . . .

Bob got home Wed night (4th), with me as well, as I've come via Winton to Brissy for a week, and kindly let me shower and crash at his place for the night.

Thanks Bob, a great trip.
