Not so much camping as Urban exploring.. But it shows that WA has some real interesting history, and some really interesting characters have called it home.. Makes for some great touring and POI.

I got a tip off to the existence of an underground cold war nuclear fall out shelter. I took about tracking down the current owners of the location to get access, with the plan to get down into it and explore what was there..

This weekend was the weekend. It took some time to get onsite, but I got geared up with lights and cameras, and took a look.

Here is a clip..

**Do not ask for the the location.

Very cool.. I love finding obscure bits of history and forming a trip around that information.

Great place for a non traditional tour, was hoping you share the location, but I guess need to search more. :-)

I've lived and worked all around that neck of the woods, yet I never knew of that mad Seth African and his doomsday prepper stuff.

Just amazing how much work, effort and money that bloke put into his end-of-world plans - but at the end of the day, his plans had more holes than a Swiss cheese, if he wanted to survive any length of time after a nuclear holocaust.

The interesting thing is, that the setup is so remote in the South Eastern area of W.A., that even if a major nuclear bomb was dropped on Perth, there would be virtually no immediate effect felt on his property.

In the longer term, he would have had to put up with insidious nuclear fallout, reduced sunlight and rainfall, and little chance of growing anything that wasn't contaminated.

This bloke wasn't related to that Waco whackjob, Koresh, by any chance?? [:-)

Thanks for the video JJ, it's good to see some of my old stomping grounds - but it's a whole lot more civilised today than it was in the early 1970's, when we ran around out there on tracks through the scrub, in 2WD HQ Holden utes!

Cheers, Ron.
