The permit forms require the exact date planned to cross the areas. Chances are that you may be a couple of days late or early. Does anyone know how that problem can be solved?

Personally I wouldn't stress too much about it so long as you have permits and within cooee of your travel dates I think the rangers would be OK, it is the intent of doing the right thing but not everything can go to plan.
I think they would sooner catch those without permits doing the wrong thing with no intent of being upfront & honest.

On the WA Planning Lands &
Heritage site it says approximate dates from memory.
Also what are the chances you're going to bump into someone who requests to see your permits, I know it happens, but it must occur very rarely.
I'm going through this process right now as
well and I believe that if I have a permit and I'm a few days out and I get asked for the permits, I'm not going to stress as it can be seen that I've done the correct thing.

Make the start date the earliest you think, and the end date the latest.

Allowing for possible weather, health, accident or mechanical issues!
I have always thought the date in - date out requirement to be ridiculous, Outback travel is far from an exact science.

So appreciate your instant feedbacks thank you. We're swiss travellers and a little unsure of how stringent such laws are. Also glad to see that you Aussie travellers also wish there was more flexibility in order to accomodate the fact that travelling shouldideally not be kept to rigid timetables if at all possible.

The replies noted cover the topic
well, however it is good to be aware that one of the permits you will need is from The Department of Defence for
Woomera, a
test facility. It can occur during the application process the people on the ground in
Woomera will contact you to confirm actual dates of entering and leaving their zone. This has happened to us twice now.
Hasn’t been a drama but you do need to consider your travel dates and be prepared with alternatives.
