Hi Folks

Looking for your reviews/experiences with either the MSA brand or Clear View.

If there are other brands that you think are worth mentioning please feel free to do so.

Cheers

Lyndon
I have been using the MSA branded drop down slide now for about 4 years, and have no complaints, works well.

When I was researching these, Lyndon, by all reports Clearview was the better of the two. Almost bought a 2nd hand MSA & they look alright too.

Solved my problem, & about 40kgs in weight, by buying an upright Engel 80L fridge for my alloy canopy. All good,

Bob

Hi Bob

Thanks for the reply. An upright was thought of, however they have a downside. The self emptying factor when first opened :-)

Cheers

Ha ha, Lyndon, don’t you also mean all the cold air falls out too? Words from the uninitiated!

They’re the usual retorts by those who haven’t used them, however most, if not all upright fridges have a lip at the front of the shelves, and the Waeco’s even have a hinged flap on the lower shelves. Careful packing of the fridge reduces, if not stops, items doing a swan dive into the Simpson/CSR sand.

As for all the cold air falling out, at the start of a trip, a well packed fridge has 3/5ths of bugger all air inside to fall out. My wife, who approves of our upright, devised a folding piece of cardboard, that blocks most of any air falling out, if one is only getting something out of the door.

Anyway, it’s your choice & a chest style fridge would be more efficient in your climate.

We found some plastic storage bins that fit neatly side to side and between shelves so there is no wasted space. Even if the bins are only partially filled little "cold falls out".

Clear View seems inordinately expensive for what it is.

Not exactly what you asked but Evakool make a 40 litre draw fridge/freezer which may suit your needs

Hi Lyndon.

I have had a MSA Platinum Heavy Duty drop down slide in the back of my LC200 since December 2011 and it has worked a treat. When the 40ltr Engel is fully loaded you do need to carefully guide the load down (ensure it doesn't drop down) and in maintaining this practice I have never had any issues at all. A strong and robust build and the only maintenance I do is a little spray of silicon on moving parts once a year.
I have had no experience with Clear View.

Cheers.

Both work like a treat and make life easier for my vertically challeneged wife. Alos allows you to open the fridge lid fully (not possible on a normal slide in our setup.

Beware though the weight; It is another 40kg of dead weight that you are adding to the drawer setup!

CSeaJay,

Are you saying that the drop down slide is 40kgs heavier than a standard fridge slide?

Firstly I do not know what a “standard fridge slide” is.
But what I am saying is a good and heavy duty drop slide like those mentioned work a treat but weighs 40kg.

Non drop fridge slides also weigh around 40 kgs, so wether you use a drop slide or a standard non drop slide, they weigh about the same. Depending on the drawer setup, some draws come with a built in fridge slide.

G'day Lyndon, we've been using Clearview drop-down fridge slide with 40lt ARB fridge in it for 3 years and have added the little clip on table/prep area. Well engineered, sturdy but not cheap.
Cheers, Mal

I reviewed my MSA some years ago. Still going strong.
