Ivan,
Where did you get this info?
I didn’t think they were that definite about closures.
I know you’ve got the info for enquires, but I can’t see if you’ve put any link to the info.????
Not going that way myself , but clearer info for travellers would be good???
More info needed

These are media releases from Woomera. Any news site connected to the Stuart Highway will have them.

.
Ivan,

The dates you provide do not align with the information on the recently updated website of the
Woomera Prohibited Area Information Office .
Where did you get your information from? A note pasted on the door of the Glendambo Roadhouse like last post?

There are some major closures scheduled for September 2019, Nov/Dec 2019 and March 2020. There must be some big operations planned for the Area.

I would advise anyone contemplating travel passing through the Restricted Zones to visit the Information Site linked above to view and consider their travel plans. Be aware that the XLS calendar has not been updated yet.

Note that you can subscribe to WPA exclusion period updates by emailing "WPACO@defence.gov.au" with "Subscribe" as the subject and "Subscribe to WPA exclusion period updates" in the email body. This way you will get prompt reliable advice as the closure times are subject to frequent and rapid changes.

Incidentally Ivan, the "News Sites" I have just visited all have the old WRONG dates.
In any case they usually interpret and report incorrectly in my experience.
Surely it is better to get your information directly from the "Horse's Mouth"?
Cheers
Allan

People wonder why the forum is dead. Three likes for a post arguing that the original post is wrong and not one like for the original post that was put up to help people. Well you all showed me. Won't bother again.

Ivan, the problem I see with publishing the Stuart Hwy road closure dates, due to Defence reasons, is that the advice from Defence is they can change their Stuart Hwy closure dates and times at a whim, sometimes with very short notice.

As a result, people are better informed and more timely informed, if they sign up to the Defence emails, that are issued with up-to-date information.

You have noted in your post, that the information you put up, is "subject to change".

No-one is criticising you for trying to help with information, it's just that your information is not timely, and could provide erroneous dates and times for travellers, due to Defence initiating highway closures and openings at short notice, depending on what is obviously their day-to-day, short-term planning.

Cheers, Ron.

Your intention was to gain attention and belittle someone by tearing apart their thread, as usual. As I said previously I wont be bothering anymore. You obviously know way more than anyone else.

Hi Ivan

Thanks for posting, and yes your dates are 100% correct.

My sister is driving down from Alice Springs and all traffic was stopped on the main Stuart Highway, as you leave Coober Pedy.

They told her to come back to the traffic point about 1pm today and it should be open again.

Thanks
