Hi 2208

Looks great from the air

Also the clear blue sky plonks great, the last time we climbed it last September, it was very overcast

BLACKDOWN TAB LELANDS....view from lookout on the “4wd” track there (more high clearance then 4wd). If you go for a very short walk through the bush instead of being herded into the fenced for your safety lookout platform area, you’ll get a much better viewing platform. Pic shows a fraction of the over 180 degree view area

Here's the view in one direction from Mount Sonder Lookout (NT) in the West MacDonnells ...

Good view of the top of the Spencer Gulf from the viewing platform atop Mount Brown (SA) ...

It's a decent hike up Mt Sonder, especially in biting cold wind !!

Whilst we are in the West Mac ranges, here's one that will have you puffing a lot more than Mt Sonder. Brinkley's Bluff on the Larapinta Trail

Thanks Mark , not so sure we could do it now !!

Here's one last shot of the top of Mt Sonder. My BIL and I pressed on to the top in gale-force, bitterly cold winds ( stupid male egos?) while Ros and Jan waited comfortably in a sheltered nook.

Cheers

Kroombit Tops lookout. The specks on the ocean are coal ships outside Gladstone harbour about 75 kilometres away. This was the first time I'd been there, and every time since it has been too hazy to see the ocean.

OK I'll share a trick with you... When you click to open your image and you get a full screen, use the right mouse click option and select open image in new tab. You will get a url something like this https://cdn.exploroz.com/images/forum/uploads/103748_17__TN1000x800.jpg?gid=174201

The size of the image displayed is determined by the TN code - so 1000x800 is what you are seeing, however if you remove all the double underscrore before the TN and these numbers but keep the .jpg and the ? and the gid number you will be able to view the original image as uploaded.

You can also display your pics on youtube by coverting them with a suitable program into an MPEG file.
Youtube is an agreeable free host..

Here is an example made as a slide show of pics. All the usual mods can be made and sound can be added ect

One of my all time favourite lookouts also happens to be the highest accessible point by vehicles in the Flinders.......Mount Caernarvon.......just love the drive and the views.

This was the only good thing about the original Skytrek.... but not a fan of their new drive.

You can still do this great drive by contacting this link.

I think it was built to put in a communications tower. He drove it in the early 70s.
I doubt it is legal now, if it ever was, and you would probably need a Haffy to do it anyway.
