Car Wreck

Remnants of vehicles that have come to grief on these harsh tracks are found throughout old tracks along the Nullarbor plain. This one is particularly spectactular and lies right alongside the track.

I reckon it's a Ford Mainline Ute circa 1949. I used to drive one as a kid and it only had 2nd gear, no problem there. Brings back memories.

B1B2 ,Back in the days of no fear, i had a 650cc ex police triumph (big deal back then) and regular drag races between a mate with a V8 ford mainline ute were the order of the day. They were a great vehicle
and matched the trumpy in straight line speed. (sometimes..LOL)

My Grandad had a Mainline ute as his farm runabout and an Anniversary Customline as his town car.
George loved his comfort and they both knew their way home the 10 miles to the farm, after an afternoon at the local.

My uncle had one from new until he was too old to drive. Would have been registered to him for about sixty years. My cousin now has it, not sure if it is still registered, or a "project". I think it had done over a million miles - he used to have a country mail run for many years.
