Went through the Tanami on 15 & 16 of May, plenty corrigations, pleased to get off it after 2 days,Driving Prado with Dobson Springs & Shockys, seem to catch a lot of vehicles not handling it so well,we were fortunate we had a cross wind so overtaking was not a problem with the dust.It was by far the worst road after doing the Plenty,& Buntine highways. If you go on line to the relevant state or territory authority outback road conditions, you should be able to see the road you are interested in.

It’s usually the same and just drive to the conditions.

This is what you can expect to see along the classic drive from my Blog about it.

Enjoyed your blog SL, also enjoyed the Tanami road the three times we have been up there.

The very good read, Icing on the Damper (Marie Mahood) tells a more recent pioneering story of a family establishing the cattle station "Mongrel Downs" near the NT/WA border.

They sure had a life of adventure in the early '60's.

Thanks all. We drove the Tanami late last week without issue. Some rougher sections but not too bad. Lots of road trains travelling at low speed.

Something to consider regarding fuel is that Billiluna (168km from Halls Creek - 885km from Alice Springs) was closed for access.

Not sure if it is due to COVID but if travellers are planning on refuelling at Billiluna you may be caught short. Last fuel heading north will be Yuendumu or Tillmouth Well.

Safe travels.

Just drive to the conditions. I was passing it 3 weeks ago and there was not comfortable to drive, because of rain. After my trip i decide to have some rest and visit my website, which provides relevant reviews about games. Recommend you to check it.
