The Tanami Track

The Tanami Track is essentially a great short-cut linking the Red Centre to the Kimberley. Although once a notorious 4WD track, it is now a graded dirt highway.

Kururrungku Store - Bililuna Station

Section: Places

The store opens Monday to Friday from 8am - 11.00am, then 2pm - 4.00pm. On Saturdays it is only from 8am -10.30am. Fuel is available (diesel & opal). Out of hours also available for a $20 fee.

Hi All,

a heads up for those planning to travel along the Tanami.

We drove it late last week and Billiluna (168km from Halls Creek - 885km from Alice Springs) was closed.

Billiluna is a fuel stop in many of the forums and online.

Also the last 50km prior to hitting the WA boarder is pretty rubbish at the moment.

Billiluna has been closed since June last year due to Covid.

Hi all. Can someone please tell me the max fuel range I will need to do this road considering the closure of certain communities and fuel stops mentioned above. Planning to do this road but don’t want to have to tow a fuel tanker with me. Cheers.
