I use this from Coles. You can get a similar home brand in Woolies.



The important thing is a higher than 30% sodium percarbonate. Put a capful in some water and chuck it into the toilet canister. Replenish or empty every 3 days.

Either brand of the mentioned Laundry soakers are ok.
As a matter of interest, the Coles Ultra Oxy Action has dropped slightly in the % of Sodium Percarbonate as it used to.
It is now rated at 320g/kg, or 32%.

Napisan Vanish Gold Oxi Advance is rated at 330g/kg, or 33% but the difference is negligible and the Coles brand is probably cheaper.
What I like about Napisan is that it comes with a natty little scoop in the container which makes distribution of its contents into the porta potti that little bit easier.
If you like this one, just look for the pink container with the gold lid.

Alternatively, you can buy 100% sodium percarbonate from brewers supplies or on line.

This is what we've used.
Aldi DiSan (very cheap) is the same as Napisan - does the job but doesn't control odour quite as well as the others so we found needed changing every few days. We also use it to clean our grey water tank - pop a heap in at the last day of a trip and let it swish around on the way home.
Thetford Blue is the most effective and the sachets are easy to use (15 sachets about $25). Thetford green not as good.
Portasol works pretty well and can be bought from Bunnings and only needs 40mls each time so you get 25 doses out of a litre for $20.

It is the sodium percarbonate in these laundry soakers that act on the solids and break it down and neutralise the smell so the best thing to do is use it the same as you do at home.

For urine only, sodium percarbonate has absolutely no effect.
