When you go into settings, have you checked the computer is recognised the GPS.

Also on the test, it will tell you the com port to use as well as the baud rate.

Has it been working before?

Windows 8 was tricky to get GPS going.

Take a look here. These instructions are to use the internal GPS but may give you a clue.

Ozi instructions are always well documented, but it looks like the computer that he is using does not have an internal GPS, as he states “ GPS dongle, com 3. GPS signal ok, com 3 ok, “

I don't know anything about Win 8 - I went from Win 7 to 10, and not so long ago at that. But AFAIK, once you get the Com port working properly, OZI is the same across all flavours of Windows

Can you see NMEA output when you select it in Ozi? If not there's something wrong in your GPS and COM settings in Configuration. If you can then it may be a simple thing like an inadvertently invisible pointer - check the pointer settings in the Moving Map tab in Configuration.

You have to start NMEA communication to get the pointer and moving map. Have you done this?

Ah, yes, I should have mentioned that in my reply above.

You can do it from the Moving Map menu or from the toolbar or with a CTRL S keyboard shortcut:

Then see if you can view the NMEA output.

Have you loaded the drivers for the GPS mouse, and is windows showing it is installed ok?

Get the mouse software to function ok first then try ozi.

There has been no mention of the mouse you are using and which setting your selecting. My win 7 mouse BU353 won't work on win 10 unless i change some setting in pc each time i connect it so i use the BS- 708 (win 10) mouse . Be sure drivers are installed, process and if it fails try unplugging and replugging mouse then re-scan or a pc reboot may help .

Maurice. I hadn't seen the BS 708 mouse before. I just looked it up. I notice it claims to support the following systems.

GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, QZSS and SBAS.

The QZSS in particular interests me. It is the Japanese system used to enhance accuracy. It should increase accuracy from 2- 4m, down to about 5cm.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quasi-Zenith_Satellite_System

Its path covers all of Australia, and is being trialled by the Australian Government as the new highly accurate system to augment GPS. It may be time to upgrade from the old BU 353.

Have you seen an improvement in accuracy or performance under foliage with the BS 708 compared to the BU 353?
