Plenty of this on the Y62 forums as well.... In short, swap it around and it is unrated. No issues for anyone so far that I know of, but if you have one don't expect Nissan or possibly the Insurance company to pay - as again, it's unrated.

So, it'll likely do it. Personally for peace of mind I and several others went the slotted versions.

Hi Phillip,

I would be asking the manufacturer, as others have pointed out, it may not be “rated” if you turn it upside down.

Does it have “this way up” or something similiar stamped on it? Do any instructions say that it must go a certain way?

I wondered the same about my Hayman Reese towbar - so I sent them an email, they sent a reply saying it was reversible. My previous 200series had one that was not.

Height, or loss of, is only achieved by reversing the orientation of the tongue, not the ball. If you reverse the ball it points downward. I know what is meant but it doesn't read that way.

For a super pedant comment, might I suggest the reversal of both tongue and ball is required : )

.

RMD,
I thought that to lower the coupling that you reverse the ball AND the socket on the trailer?

Cheers

Hi Phil
This has been discussed before re other towbar tongues... I'll post a link to one thread. I know its hit or miss ringing Nissan and finding some who has a clue - so good luck there. What weight are you towing?
The Y62 tongue is welded at 60deg so it is not compromised as much upside down as a 45deg weld. I imagine they thought that through and settled at 60deg as a safer compromise.... Either way it has a lot more hanging on than most setups. I always understood that most quality tongues were foolproof and hence reversable but Im not an insurance assessors bootlace! I do think the Y62s tongue setup is over engineered compared to a lot of others I have seen. So I guess its up to you and the weight you are towing.

Just do a search on the forum
