Just looking at distances and fuel on Binns Track. I'm considering doing the trip from Timber Creek to Mt Dare, north to south as we're currently in Katherine.

I have the Hema Great Desert Tracks book and it says that the longest distance between fuel stops is 424 kms, Atitjere to Epenerra.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if that's still accurate?

The book is the 4th edition, which I think is the one before the current edition.

Thanks for any help.

I drove that a couple of yeas ago, there was fuel at Epenarra, maybe worth a ring to check. From FB, "Locally owned Convenience Store, Fuel and Camping available. Please call in and say G'day.(08) 8964 1511"

We drove South/North and from Epenarra got permission to drive through the station to Barkly Homestead. I know, not actually Binns Track. Also factor in a few days relaxation at Old Police Waterhole, very nice spot to take a break. If fuelling near Tennant Creek, fuel is usually a fair bit cheaper in town rather than at Three Ways. Enjoy your trip.

Thanks John. The phone number you listed, is that the one to ask for permission to access Barkly Homestead?

Siringo, yes, I rang before hand and checked again when we got there, didn't need fuel but bought some anyway, other wise one day it may not be available. We did get lost going North from the shop, but eventually found the right track, coming from the North, you shouldn't have a problem. From Barkly Homestead we headed North on the Tablelands Highway and then West to Elliot on the Barkly Stock Route, had never been on those two before, good easy roads.

G’Day Siringo

Between Atiitjere & Epenarra there is a couple of places you can buy fuel.

Imangarra (Murray Downs) slight detour of 20-30k each way or Ampilatwataja which is just north of the Sandover hwy. Both have well stocked shops.
