Folks, Nissan advised their Dealers the 3rd August 2007 Bulletin No MB1204 that ......"It is imperative this specific lubricant is used as the replacement engine oil, failure to use this specification with the additive pack will greatly increase the chances of the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter0 failing.

The oil that must be used is Shell Helix Ultra VX 5W30 Full synthetic low ash oil.

Just for the record it sells for around $12.00 per litre.

Not looking good for Nissan Navara sales I reckon

New Pajeros are exactly the same Thomo but only the auto has the particulate filter. Must use a low ash synthetic 5W/30 C1 ,C2 or C3 or else this DPF filter will block up and become damaged as a result .Engine oil for these vehicles is now quite expensive.
Cheers

VERY INTERESTING.......my D40 diesel had a 15,000klm service on the 11th August 07, by my local Nissan dealership and they as on the 5 and 10k service, used Mobil Super S 15-40W?

But there again they were the same dealership that eight weeks ago told me after I reported ongoing clutch problems to them and a three minute lap around the block "oh thats normal"! My D40 is currently at another dealership after being towed to them on Sunday, due to clutch failure.
