To clarify my post above to all. I don't use Foul language here ever. It appears the moderator reread my post after removing it and rewrote it below my original post in full.. regards Michael

H Kimba10

I have just completed the survey, and given a few comments at the end.

I sewriously do not think the Federal Authorities take into account that some people do not live near sealed roads, and without front end protection, would be continuously in trouble.

Yes I responded quite selfishly, but my hilux, with 270,000 on the clock, has seen less than 10,000 km's of bitumen. Surely the Feds have to listen to people in such circumstances.

Cheers

Have completed this.

We would hate to drive in rural/remote area without one. It's better not to ever have to use it but the few times we have hit a roo or emu it has been a godsend. In each instance it was rural/remote and we may have had to wait for rescue and it no doubt would have curtailed our travels.

The one time we hit a roo in a conventional car we sustained a huge amount of damage.

This is typical of people who live in cities, never much leave the place, and see no point in having a bull bar, I agree.

But for people in the "bush" we need them, to lower or nullify the damage from "animal strike", so we can go about our daily business.

We hear this argument from the "doo-gooders" every few years, and there is such a public out cry from the "rural sector" that it is quickly droped.

Let the voice of the "rural sector" speak.

Cheers
Bucky

Hey Bucky

Perhaps it is more typical of bureaucrats, who may or may not live in the city, that have no appreciation for what people who travel in country areas face.

Don’t tar all ‘city folk’ with the same brush, many of us are fully sympathetic to the cause...

No malice here, just a friendly reminder that many of us are on the same page regardless of where we live.

Landy

Sorry for generalizing.
No mallice here either.

I willl correct that to "those who never travell in the bush, with extra precautions needed at dusk and dawn".

I did the report

Had a bad run back from Cooktown this week - 5 minor strikes but that took a lot of serious steering maneuvers to achieve that outcome - 5 big kangas got very sore tails

I also use my Bull and scrub bars when 4 x 4 ing - After all we use it as a 4 x 4

Cheers Tony

I filled out the survey, but it is a total waste of time trying to fight emotional responses with more emotional responses. They quote the number of animal strikes, but where is the information that says how many of those were fitted with bull bars and what the vehicle damage and injury differences were between those that had bull bars and those who did not? Any arguement without proper research that is verifyable by others to back it is a waste of time.

Howdy Kimba10

Whilst I live in the city, I own and run a part time outback 4wd tour company and my comments on the survey were that if I didn't provide adequate protection ( driving lights and bullbar ) for my passengers I would end up in court getting my moleskins sued off me ! I have driven over 5 million kilometres in and around this country and wouldn't go anywhere without a bullbar. If you think about it, bullbars should be made compulsory to any vehicle whether 2wd or 4wd that travels in rural or remote areas - even if only once a year !

Happy travelling and watch out for stray stock

All the best

Just checked with the Aust Automotive Aftermarket Association. It is still current and they are looking for support.

They want to hear from people who have hit animals, especially if it reduced or eliminated the need for an insurance claim.
