Hella Rallye 4000

my 2c!!

saw a new pair on ebay for $395, dont know how this compares to the shop price.
(i am not the seller). I have the rally 1000's but need to upgrade or stick a big bull light inbetween them as they are good but not quite bright enough for me.

If you can afford a new Sahara, then go for the best lights in the business.
Hella Predators. They maybe expensive, but the light they give out is so much whiter and brighter then standard halogen lights. Plus they are only 35watts each, so very little current draw. I have a pair on my Cruiser and would never go back to a halogen light.

hi hella predators r :the top: lights ,but their built 4 rally cars which crash often the lights life exp is 2 years ,if not crashed yet ,. but good lights hella 4000 i got brilliant but they leak water in , is only fault which i can fix ,can get aftermarket high bulbs gl jtb

Check out the new range of ziel's at repco on sale at the moment.

I just installed then and they certainly seem strong enought for out back driving, the come in sizes up to 210mm.

If you are going to be doing some outback driving, then you can't have too much light. I really doubt if the Predators only last 2 years, Stolzy might be able to confirm this.

2 Predators, @ 35W each, are equivalent of 4 Hella 4000's, @ 100W each. They also share the same robust body, and excellent mounting system. Hella also make the Rallye 1000 in a HID light, @ about $750, but if they have the plastic body, they are not too robust. Haven't seen any water in the 4000's on our wagon, even after swimming a couple of creeks!!

Lightforce make an HID in 240 size, which are "only" about $1200 each. KC Hilites also make an HID but don't know anything about it.

Opposite Lock supply an HID upgrade kit for Hella 4000's and few other lights using the H1 globe, price about $1200, but not sure if that's each, or a pair.

While the HIR infra-red globes might be good, a headlight wiring loom upgrade will make a lot of difference. Get them from ARB, or Piranha.

When you consider the cost of the new Sahara, a pair of the better lights is only going to add 4-5% to that total. Read the article in latest 4WD Monthly, good review that shows the good and not so good - Lightforce 240 won, with Hella 4000, 2nd.

Light force 240 would be my choice
1 They are fitted with a breather similar to a diff breather
2 Tough as nails - can't remember who it was end for ended there comp 4WD
& one of the things left intact was the Lightforce 240.
3 They have clip on adjustable diffusers
4 Try www.offroad.com.au and check there reviews and the shop for prices
