Hello all,

Both Australians now living in Nottinghamshire, England, we endeavor returning to Australia for a holiday whenever possible. Our last adventure was in 2013, spending a couple of months touring Central Australia and the top-end, including Queensland, Northern Territory and the Kimberley of Western Australia. In total we covered over 15,000km.

We are fortunate enough to be returning to Australia on May 29th 2014 and will initially be spending a few days in Perth, Western Australia with family and friends.

This years WordPress Blog can be found here Australia 2014

Journey Legs
1.Perth to Broome – Commencing our adventure in Perth, our first leg will take us north to Broome using the Great Northern Hwy via Newman and Marble Bar. We will take a detour for a couple of days to stop off at Carawine Gorge and in a round-about way will come back onto the Gt Northern Hwy south of Sandfire Road House, just south of Broome.

2.Broome to Kununurra – Having a bit of a break from camping out, we will spend a few days in Broome at the Mercure Continental Hotel, visiting surrounding areas, including Cape Leveque/Bardi and Beagle Bay before heading off towards Derby and the Gibb River Road. Travelling via the Gibb River Road, we will take-in Windjana, Silent Grove and Bell Gorge, before veering north to Mitchell Falls and Kalumburu…..and maybe the chance to do some real fishing. Making our way south, we will have a stop-over at Home Valley Station before spending a couple of relaxing days in Kununurra.

3.Kununurra to Katherine – It will be a pleasant change to experience a few kms of bitumen as we travel south to the turn-off to the Bungle Bungle (Purnululu National Park). Cathedral Gorge is always worth a look. We will then make our way east from Halls Creek along the Buntine Hwy and Duncan Road, with a look at Marella Gorge and then onto Katherine via Gregory National Park, Timber Creek and the Victoria Hwy.

4.Katherine to Maningrida and Dundee Beach – Departing Katherine and heading north, we will enter Arnhem Land via Jabiru and make our way onto Maningrida via Cahills Crossing and Oenpelli. It’s then a short 85km drive across to Ramingining from Maningrida. The last part of this leg will include a full day’s drive from Ramingining to Dundee Beach, which is around 600kms.

5.Dundee Beach to Broome – We will have a full week at Dundee Beach staying at Sholly Shack and will also have the use of a boat from Hooked-up. Time to party a little and have some close friends over to go fishing with and just chill for a few days…. Then it’s back to Broome for a few more nights at the Continental, with some day trips on the side.

6.Broome to Coral Bay – It will take us a couple of days to do the trip down to Coral Bay, spending a few days there, taking in some fishing charters and maybe a dive if we are lucky.

Once we arrive back in Perth it will be more of the same with family and friends.

We’d like to take this opportunity to invite all our friends from across the globe to again follow and participate in our adventure via our blog. Both our 2012 and 2013 adventures had thousands of hits, comments and questions from 52 countries. Please visit the blogs for our other Australian Adventures here:
