Mudgee to Darwin Day 6 Farina to Coward Springs

Short trip today, I was up early taking pictures around the Farina ruins in the morning light, then followed the walking track along the old railway track and creek back to the campsite. We also had a look at the underground bakery, which is now in working order. It's pretty cool this morning, we had bacon and eggs for brekkie, then packed up and headed for Marree, where we fuelled up ($1.95/lt) and had coffee and got a few supplies. Peter had put the Corflute on the back window for stone protection so we needed some more tape. We also fitted the mat for the stone stomper.

Then we headed towards Coward Springs, stopping at the mound springs (Blanche Cup and The Bubbler) for a look, more photos, and lunch. The mound springs are amazing, such an oasis with bright green vegetation and lovely clear water, well worth a look. When we arrived at Coward Springs, we could soak our feet and legs in their spa bath, made of railway sleepers. It was a bit cool to hop in, the water was nice but the air temp quite low and a little breeze, so we just sat on the edge with our feet in. The facilities were very good here, with a rocket stove to heat the shower water, and a great campground. The shower water took about 40 minutes to get properly hot, but very nice then. The next morning though, I was asked by a gentleman with a towel on his shoulder, where are the showers? I said, just over there behind the rocket, but you have to light it and wait at least half an hour. I think that may have been not the reply he was hoping for. Shortly after, there was a group standing about discussing their plan of action.
