10,500 km in just over two months with the kids! We left Fremantle in late November for a two month trip to Tasmania and the Victorian High Country. The Landcruiser 200 petrol is three years old and tows an Australian Offroad Campers Odyssey Export Signature. The kids (Kate (7) and Jack (9) loved the Great Central Road, the tail end of the Gunbarrel and especially Urulu, Kata Tjuta, the West MacDonnell National Park and Alice Springs. Temperatures around 40-46 (38 at 10pm at night!!) and water everywhere. Time to head for cooler climes - rain at Oodnadatta, rain in Melbourne and snow in Tassie aagh! Can't go to the Victorian High Country cos its closed! Roads out, bridges down! Had to at least make Canberra because they had the last set of BFG muddies in Australia! Now how do we get home (at least a fun way)? Cameron's Corner closed!, Strzelecki Track closed! Bourke closed! Broken Hill closed! So the highway it was, dodging floods until Mildura, Renmark the Flinders Ranges and Skytrek! Now it was 46 degrees again with wind directly from a hot oven. Oh well, we didn't need to get out of the car for Skytrek ;-). Back home via the Nullaboring, with a short cut from Balladonia via very rough track to Cape Arid and Duke of Orleans for some white beach fun and no rain! But wait - a cyclone cometh and so did the rain! Hit Williams as a storm front wiped out the bowling club roof and so much rain we had to pull over. What a trip - well done Australian Offroad Campers - 46 degrees to torrential rains and heavy snow, cyclonic winds and we stayed dry (I can't say WARM and dry), and nothing broke except the CTEK charger!
