Red Dirt Australia

Timely reminder about security. Three am in the morning, all asleep and someone broke in the back door! Amanda went for a nightime toilet stop only to find the back door wide open! They tipped over some children's toys which must have made a racket, then grabbed my laptop computer bag, only to find it unzipped and it tipped everything on the ground. They got away with nothing, but spooked us! What if Amanda had walked in on them?

I fitted double bolts to the back doors, the electrician has just gone having fitted two new security lights activated by movement. I'm waiting for delivery of two new wireless IP security cameras. Great little devices which will record using a camera card (80 hours) and email me on my iPad or iPhone the moment they detect any motion. I can then open an app and see what is going on directly though the cameras from anywhere in the world. Much better than a monitored security system, which costs the earth with little reaction.

Gotta have the house semi secure for the 4 months away. Also have arranged for friends to visit regularly, check the mail, the house, the watering etc. Inside are timers on lights and radios. We have a 2m wall right around the house with bougainvillea growing up - wicked spikes. Electric gates only opened by key or remotely from the house. Now camera protected.

Off to get the trailer services tomorrow. Muddies on Friday.
