Day 1
The morning of June 1st arrives, the frost on both the car and camper is thick…….brrrr (oh did I forget to mention I live just out of Ballarat, Vic.)

Now we had decided to save a little money along the way by using free camping as much as possible so on our first night….. we get an ensuit site in a CP. Maybe we need to work up to this free camping stuff, better to iron out the bugs with some creature comforts I think. We are in Mildura, which is very close to where I grew up so it feels like home.

Day 2
We are up early, well early for me, and on the road by 8.30, we are heading for somewhere around Peterborough and have a few choices on free camps. The sun is shinning and all is good with the world. We cross the border into S.A. and head for Burra crossing the Murray River by ferry at Morgan. We are making good time and still can’t believe we are on holidays. We get to Peterborough very early so we decide to keep going onto Wilmington, and yep we go for the little CP that I have stayed at before. There were only a few vans and we really had lots of sites to choose from, 2 couples were sitting around a nice fire & I stopped off to say hello on my way back from the shower block. One couple were stuck there for a week or so due to a busted axle but they seemed happy enough.
Now because we have to be in Broome by the 13th of June to meet up with the rest of the party we can’t dilly dally around sightseeing and I didn’t want anything like a busted axle to hold us up, so we have agreed that on the way back we will take our time & stop at all the places we want to see more of. So another list is created.
