Day 12,13,14
Wow I don’t believe we’ve done it, we turn left onto the red, corrugated track in to the Bird Observatory, it’s about 25klms from
Broome and we were pre-warned about the road in the day before. It’s only 15k’s of dirt road so I didn’t reduce my tyre pressure, that could have been a mistake.

Day 13
Over the dunes to the water at the Bird Observatory, a great afternoon walk.
It was good to catch up with my sister, and we setup & got ready to head into
Broome and do some sites. The other 4 won’t be arriving until tomorrow. While at
Broome we managed to have at least 2 visits to the camping store, one to replace the broken plate and the other just cause we like camping stores. ? It was one of these visits that I saw my first Travelander & I’m pretty sure the owners will be members on this site…so… they were the nicest people and even opened it up to show us all the good things about it. I was in heaven.
We did all the touristy things like take a drive down to
Cable Beach and go to the pub at
Roebuck bay, walked all the shops down that way. My sister’s partner has a cousin in
Broome so I asked her to find out where I should get the car serviced after we come back from
Cape Leveque, then booked it in. That night the 4 of us had dinner in the camper as the mozzies were pretty bad and caught up with all that had happened to them since they had left Vic. They had a little trouble crossing the Nullabor and lost a few days waiting on parts, they have a Hilux dualcab tray with a pod on the back but sleep in a tent. I don’t think I could go back to lying on the ground. I’ve got a little soft in my old age.
