Central Australia adventure June 2012, day 26 2713/07/12

Day 26........... Travelled to Nyngan today, the rain continued and there was a lot of water on the ground all the way.

The terrain had changed significantly traveling through NSW, long gone were the dry barren, and rocky landscapes, now replaced with thick lush forests.

I was amazed to see the number of feral animals along the roadsides, foxes and goats were spotted all over the place, especially the stretch between Cobar and Nyngan.

Another night in a cabin, this time at Nyngan Riverside CP, it was a great park right on the river, the cabins were roomy and very well maintained, and the one we were in looked over the river, if there was not so much water on the ground it would have been a really great place for the kids to run around and explore along the river.

We are living it up tonight and having Chinese take away, the kids are very excited indeed.

Day 27.......... Today we traveled to Goondawindi, more rain, more water on and around the roads, there were some areas that looked like they were going to flood if the rain continued, Wee Waa being one, we heard truckies talking about road closures in the area but fortunately we did not come across one.

We are at the Goondawindi Tourist Park tonight, a very nice park by the looks of things, it is very busy though.

There was a heated pool at the CP and it was remarkably warm (23 degrees) on our arrival at Goondawindi so the boys went in for a swim, it's the first swim in a pool for the boys for quite a while so they had a ball.

We had intended to camp out on the way home but the weather has made it a bit hard, while staying in cabins along the way we noticed a lot of people who were also towing Campers were staying in cabins as well, they must also have gotten a bit tired of everything being wet and muddy, I guess that's the advantage of a caravan over a camper.

Tonight is the last night of our holiday and tomorrow we arrive at home after a relatively short 4 hour drive.
