DAY 80 thru port headland, every second person, no, 2 out of 3 people wore hi viz clothing and nearly every car had the flag and light wagging meaning it was a mining vehicle! And every house had a boat parked!
On to Karijini NP. Unfortunately arrived the day of the tragedy there.
Host Mary was great considering what she had to deal with. Whole place had a sombre feel, everyone felt for the grieving family and we heard no complaints that Dales gorge had to be completely shut down.DAY 81 travelled the 50 kms over to weano, Knox and Joffre gorges.
Beautiful rugged gorges and able to wade thru and swim once again in freezing but crystal clear water and scramble over rocks in 35deg heat! The purple shades of the wildflowers were everywhere. Thought we were all gorged out after the Kimberleys but the wildflowers made it well worth the corrugations.DAY 82 on road back to coast wanted to stop at Millstream Chichester NP. Followed the rio tinto railroad for a little way with its 2 1/2- 3 km trains, all laden with iron ore on way to port. Saw about 10 of them!
Instead of going first to the visitors centre and checking out the campsites there we went straight to python pool and the snake river campsite. This was due to guys love of snakes and him wanting to see a python taking an animal at dusk as in that email. Scenery was breathtaking, rolling hills, wildflowers more prevalent, first sightings of sturts desert pea and the python pool wonderful for a refreshing dip.
But the campsite was rocky and hot and too small so we moved on to karratha, another fluoro shirt capital of world!
Best thing was the $5 carwash at the caravan park. We'll still be finding red dust years from now but it was nice to remove a great deal of it!DAY 83 anxious to leave for exmouth, stayed at the lighthouse caravan park, 17 km north of exmouth. Up high in the unpowered section had magic views to the north. And the packed with kids on hols caravan park was almost out of hearing range!

DAY 84 woke to the ocean views and humpback whales! And on the beach, turtles everywhere!
