AMO'S

DAY 52 such a big day at Bungles, need to take a leisurely, once the grocery shopping is done. I hate shopping!
Visited the Nadine Lovell Gallery in Kununurra. She painted the largest mural by a women. It's huge and captures every detail of Bungle Bungle. Many other of her works there, beautiful multiple colored boabs among my favourites. May buy something when I get home.
Also visited the zebra rock gallery, jewellery and dishes etc made from special stripey rock only found near lake argylle. Fed the hundreds of huge catfish which wrestled over one another from the little wharf. Bent over the water to give the turtles something too and was squirted by archer fish deadly in their accuracy for my forehead. Also crimson finch and barr shouldered doves.
The sad part of day, couldn't wait for the 5pm- 8pm timeslot to buy takeaway alcohol so left for Gibb nearly alcohol free. Foolishly thought we could pick it up later at el q or Drysdale! Darn!
Started the Gibb River Road undersupplied.First stop El Questro, a much anticipated stop which left us a little under whelmed due I suppose to all the hype about it.
Did have great time in bar that night entertained by Luke O'Shea tho.
DAY 53 once again we visited the zebedi springs and they were great, but not quite what we expected from seeing on tv so a little disappointed.Did some 4x4 track to Brancos lookout and explosion track. This took us over a wide river crossing paved with large pebbles and boulders, a very bumpy ride to great lookout spot, would have been fantastic at sunset, and views of chamberlain river and gorge. Whoa v hot.DAY 54 packed up early and attacked Emma Gorge before it got too hot. This was a beautiful ,quite shady walk following the river to a spectacular swimming gorge, waterfall and hot springs. What more could you want? On return the Resort was very comfortable and served great meals and icy drinks. I wouldn't want this everywhere because the wilderness of some gorges is another special attraction but seeing it's there you have to enjoy it.
Stayed the night at Ellenbrae which seemed to offer a great deal with scones and cream, and a welcoming wallaby and shady green grass but the camping area altho quite creative was really dusty!!!DAY 55 camped up the Kalumburu road at Drysdale River Station. Altho also dusty had a nice feel to it, decent showers etc and good food. The very helpful shop guy directed us to the miners pool where we could cool off. Weren't we surprised when we went back to fish in the dark to find many large freshies.. Alison caught a sooty grunter by a lure which made her day but left guy a bit miffed. River crossings and fish- all her bucket list items!
