AMO'S

DAY 49 Katherine mighty hot, stayed at the NP camp for $34 for 2 unpowered, but prob worthwhile as had a lovely swimming pool area. Visited the Katherine Hot Springs. Altho welcome after a trailer packup, no way near as nice as BitterSprings.
Off down Victoria Hwy, kept up with the Joneses, didn't take the helicopter scenic flight over their Coolibah property but stopped at their gates and said 'hello'.
Sighted our first boab trees, stayed at Timber Creek and had another swimming pool to keep us cool but in no way was it luxurious. Owner fed the freshies at 5 pm from the river bridge, some quite big ones.
Dumped all our fruit and veg in readiness for quarantine station at the border. Better for Tiwi and co to have it and the honey in exchange for space in his fire. Actually we would have preferred some of his damper.looked pretty good!
DAY 50. Stopped to check out the Gregory tree, down the road , middle of nowhere, one other couple coming back from viewing and Danny recognizes them as a former customer from Sydney! What are the chances?Further on received thorough check over by the quarantine station. They should get a sniffer dog.
On to Lake Argyle, another swimming pool, this time an infinity edge overlooking the huge (10 x Sydney harbor) lake. Could sit there and marvel at the changing colours of gorge at sunset. Until 6pm anyway when the pool closed!PS Sunday roast was pretty good!
DAY 51 a special highlight of trip for me. Boarded plane at 9am for scenic flight to Purnululu NP over the lake , diamond mine and the Bungles. Landed near the park and bussed to carpark where we walked for next 4 hrs. Did Domes walk, piccaninny lookout and finally lunched at Cathedral Gorge. This was a magic place, would have been heaven if could have swum but great to have a bit of shade and lunch. With the special acoustics, Crusty the guide read a poem by Nadine Lovell of her first experiences of the Bungle Bungle. We shared many. A quick walk back to bus for another 1 hr flight over echidna chasm, piccaninny and cathedral gorges. Fantastic. $600 each but very well spent!
