Stockton Beach Holiday Park.

Being no "free camping" anywhere near Newcastle, we elected to camp for three nights next to the beach, at Stockton. A "Top Tourist Park" the Stockton Beach Holiday Park offered unpowered camp sites which for me, as a Member, cost $19.80/night.

That will give us time to explore Stockton today, and catch the ferry over to have a look around Newcastle tomorrow. This afternoon, after nice cafe lunch, did the long walk along Shipwreck Walk on the northern breakwater of Newcastle Harbour at the mouth of the Hunter River.

Went down to Stockton Beach to wet the toes in the water. Beautiful and warm, and clean. Beach runs for miles, curving around into Stockton Bight - lots of sand and little waves.

Late afternoon was enjoying the passing and stationary scenery! Ferry rides, as well as bit of walking, planned in Newcastle tomorrow.

My UHF radio in Prado died sometime today. Couldn't find fuse, or if it's a fuse! Lucky I brought along the two small handhelds. I can recharge them, so will remain in contact with my travelling companion on the road: especially in bloody Sydney traffic. Hate it more than I hate Brisbane’s traffic.
