Isisford to
LongreachThis part of the journey is nearly over. Left Oma
Waterhole, into
Isisford and after a 1 hour trek, I hit
Ilfracombe on the Landsborough Highway. I normally stop in
Ilfracombe for a Sunday Buffet Breakfast, but today I had other business. Needing a real cup of tea, I had arranged to pop in to see my cousins, pastoralists at
Beaconsfield Station. That done, I arranged to visit again while I was in the area, and left for
Longreach.
One cannot go past The Qantas Founders Museum on the Landsborough Highway into
Longreach (from the east) for one of the best coffees in central Queensland. I called in, especially as I was a tad early to book into the Tourist Park. Refreshed and fed (they have good tucker too) I booked into the Tourist Park. I really don't like Caravan Parks, mainly preferring freedom, space and quiet.
There is also the cost, but sometimes, one has to avail of the facilities I've spoken about before - hot showers, potable water on tap, laundry facilities, and a modicum of security not available when independent camping. The little Jayco doesn't offer much in the way of security.

My dislike of these caravan parks was reinforced here. I ended up having to set up
camp not three metres from another traveller. Both Mum and Dad objected loudly and unreasonably as I claimed my spot. But, I had paid for two weeks for an ensuite site, and here I was going to stay. Perhaps if they don't like how one has to surrender some personal space to stay in a Caravan Park, these whingers should opt for the great variety of spacious alternatives readily available, and free!
You know what, I'm going back to my private spot now. I'm spending too much time by myself methinks. It's off to the ASHOF tomorrow to see what the Museum has in store for me over the next couple of weeks.
Hey, nearly forgot to mention, I have not had an ounce of trouble with either my gas, or electrics - 12v or 240v. It must have been me not doing something right, and not knowing better until trial and error, and a sparkie in
Birdsville last trip, showed me the light.
Until my next blog folks, ciao.
