Today it's forecast for 15 to 30mm of rain, so we're taking the shortest route back to Tarmac, across 80km of dirt roads. There are lots of puddles at the side of the road from the shower we had over night. If it does rain we'll be stranded until the roads dry out.
The station manager doesn't hold out much hope for serious rain though, saying "I'll believe it when I see it". His land is semi desert. I a agree with him. The
grey clouds don't look as though they'll give more than a light shower.
It's still a long drive through
Cunnamulla,
Eulo, &
Quilpie with some heavy rain at times. Just near
Quilpie one of the floodways was covered with about 20cm of floodwater which we just drove through slowly.
Tonight we're staying at lake Houdraman which is
free camp. Only 2 vans here but loads of space. The ground gets very muddy with rain so we're all got moon boots on. (When the mud sticks you get taller and taller)
