Today we travelled a relatively short distance from the beginning of Witjira national park through
Dalhousie Springs and on to Mt Dare.
We stopped briefly at
Purni bore. It's a little oasis in the middle of the desert, with a large
shallow lake and loads of birds. The most common are the flocks of tiny zebra finches.

Dalhousie Springs
We got to Dalhousie for lunch and then the family spent 2 hours soaking in the hot springs. It's a beautiful 38 degrees. There's noodles and boogie boards there for everyone to use, to float in the warm water. If you keep still with your feet near the bottom, tiny fish nibble your toes and clean the dead skin off your feet.
At 3 we head for Mt Dare. It's pretty bumpy especially if you take the direct route, as the road is covered in gibber rocks. We later learn that the longer route through blood springs would have been heaps easier and probably faster.
At Mt Dare, Pat Callinens film crew were doing some filming. I didn't really appreciate them filming me looking my worst having just crossed the desert, without saying anything.
The
camp site was surprisingly nice, with shrubs for shade and quite a bit of
hay laid down to suppress any dust.
The kids found their friend Charlie there, which they'd initially met at
Dalhousie springs. So they had a great time playing together.
We had dinner at the pub. It was really family friendly.
We finished the evening with a fire at the
campsite with some fellow travellers, Tanya & Shane.
