This morning was beautiful with the sun rising on the red dunes. While I was in the dunes taking photos I noticed a lot of green shoots poking out of the barren sand. I guess that rain we had last week is being put to good use.

Today we drove most of the Rig rd ending up at the knolls track.

We found it pleasant and easy driving. Our tyre pressures are 16 psi hot, and we can just drive up anything as slow as we want. We're finding high range first gear the right speed when the dunes are staircased by uncaring 4wders.

On the positive side, almost everyone we've come across have been great, caring for the tracks and generally letting people by when needed.

The kids today have been great. The audio books have been like audio candy for them. Today they listened to "the far away tree" by Enid Blyton. Katie can't wait to get home so she can borrow the books to read.

Tonight's camp is sheltered behind some shrubs, from the light southerly wind. It's been constant during the day for the last 3 days but always seems to drop off at sunset.

The flies have been very mild this trip but still occasionally try and fly up your nose.

The plan is to spend another 2 nights in the desert, but we might need to travel slowly or start later to achieve this. Maybe bacon and eggs tomorrow for breakfast. Mmm bacon.
