Mornington Wilderness Camp, 1- 3 June 2015
Up before 6:30am to beat the heat, which we did, but not the traffic!! Pitt St in peak hour!!!
Off to
Sir John Gorge for a refreshing swim or 2 (only the odd croc) and a fantastic sunset with a full-moon rise!
Tomorrow (Tues) we sleep in - days are >35*C everyday!
Well that was the idea! 13mm rain overnight saw
Ross' tent
cave in due to the weight of his above ground swimming pool - Guy had no annex over his entire kitchen - Andrew had water cascading into a couple of drawers & on some bedding - I got mud on one corner of the Axminster :-) I mean -:(
Then we headed to Bluebush swimming hole - in the mighty
Fitzroy River - for another refreshing swim or two before a 'slide night' talk by the resident researchers/scientists about their work here.
Wednesday we slept, had a swim or two in the
Dimond Gorge rapids then a lovely roast lamb dinner at the restaurant. Guess I'll have to wash something to wear. Dinner was lovely, washed down with some Shiraz followed by rhubarb crumble n cream, washed down with plunger coffee. BTW when we finished swimming this afternoon it was 39*C.
