Another lazy start and I’m getting the impression that this relaxed lifestyle takes time! We said goodbye to our neighbours as they were heading home and expecting to reach Bowen tonight. Lis and I on the other hand were heading into the big smoke for some retail therapy for Lis. This morning when I was saying goodbye another nice fellow camper came by and she mentioned a free tour at the Marine science Institute (AIMS) which she did last year and found it just fantastic. She mentioned it only runs on Friday and that you have to book. So we did just that via the tourist information centre for tomorrow.
On our way into town we took a wrong turn and ended up at a botanical garden dedicated to palms called a palmentum it also had a delightful café overlooking the gardens where I had to have my coffee and sticky date pudding – ah life is tough. A couple of totally unplanned activities which hopefully is what will make this trip extra special.

Our time away was a great opportunity for Ikky to get a good rest as we reckon he is not getting his midday nap like at home. As a consequence he seems a little tense and nervous, yes I know it sound a little eccentric but that’s OK we’re getting to an acceptable age for these things. Our neighbour’s Cavalier spaniel has taken a liking to Ikky as well and he is pacing outside right now even though it’s 8 o’clock – yes I know what sort of irresponsible parent leaves their doggy kid out that late at night.
A new way of life is emerging.
