Edition 185: 9th July 2009

Hi ExplorOz Reader,

Are you heading to the Goldfields this winter? Find your fortune, or just enjoy the historical locations with these useful resources. The new Gold & Ghosts WA DVD is a great navigational tool for trips to Western Australia’s various Goldfields. And, for a comprehensive guide to the history, location, and modern techniques of gold prosecting in Australia, check outGold Prospecting by Doug Stone.

We’ve also just introduced the new Duo Yellow/White 12v LED Strip Lights, which are an extremely versatile lighting solution for when you’re on the move, and come in either 50 or 90cm lengths. Also there’s a great new offer in the shop, all members now receive 10% off the Hema Navigator, and all customers who purchase the Hema Navigator still receive a Western Australia Road and 4WD Atlas free!*limited time only.

Now that Winter is here bringing cold mornings and nights, what better time to grab yourself a warm ExplorOz branded beanie. These beanies fit snug over the ears and feature our logo and slogan "There's more to explore". We’ve just received a new batch of these Beanies, and they’re a great price at just $9.95 (or $8.96 for ExplorOz Members). Click here for ExplorOz Beanie.

All Business Members can be found in the Directory, which offers search by category, or search by keyword. This fortnight, we are pleased to welcome the following new Business Members:

Have You Activated Your 406 MHz EPIRB?

Please ensure you have REGISTERED your details with AMSA - it’s a FREE service. Registering your 406 MHz beacon is very easy, and the more information you provide the AMSA - the better they can utilise this information in a coordinated manner should you ever need emergency assistance. There are a number of ways to register your 406 MHz beacon, and this can be done via the AMSA website. Please visit ourEPIRB article to learn more about AMSA registration.

Have your Say!

Some fascinating results are coming in to our recent online Polls. For example, did you know that the majority of ExplorOz users say that a "Basic Sponge Down" is their personal hygiene routine when travelling, and that only 34% of our audience currently own a caravan? We've also learned that other than using Travel/Auto sites like ExplorOz.com, most of your online time is spent on banking/finance sites!

Don't forget to look for these Public Polls by checking the new Poll tab in the Forum, as pictured below. New polls are loaded frequently and results are displayed immediately.

Thanks also, to all who have contributed excellent ideas to Thread 70168 in the ExplorOz Forum where we asked for your best camping Tips & Facts. It's worth a read if you haven't already seen it.
