Dear ExplorOz Reader,

It seems that many people are indeed focussing their travel on Exploring Oz. In the lead up to the current school holiday period our office has been working at break-neck speed to handle orders and enquiries from travellers around the country. We have also been preparing for our office relocation and commencement of a new member of staff - both of which occurred over the weekend!

Keep an eye on our Press Release centre for the full story and photos (later this week).

This article is aimed towards the motor home/caravan traveller, but is equally relevant to anyone trying to make use of solar energy to power devices whilst on-the-road. Written in conjunction with Australia's leading expert, this article will help you avoid the major traps when setting up your solar power system. Whether you already have a solar unit, or are about to invest in this approach to powering, you will learn something new from this article.

Solar that Works - find it under the new Topic heading "Electrics"

New Trek Note

Dreaming of a summer getaway?

Why not plan your next trip to the Victorian High Country - using our new trek note High Country - Corryong to Omeo. This is a true offroad trek including Dargo High Plans and an exciting river crossing. Views of Kosciusko abound from the summits of Mt’s. Pinnibar & Gibbo.

Trek Note Feedback

If you have information you wish to share with other people about a particular destination, then please ensure that you use the Trek Note Feedback. This feedback works just like the Forum, in that you can post your information live to the site for others to read instantly but also ensures that all information is kept together so it is easier for others to find/read in the future (especially relevant when people using our site comes in directly to a Trek Note page from a search engine match).

Simply find the relevant Trek Note on ExplorOz (you can do this by using Home Page, or Site Search, or Trek Search) and then from your chosen trek click on the Trek Feedback icon;

Road Conditions

In the last newsletter we advised the beginning of our new Road Reporting system was underway with WA and SA converted. Most of Qld and NSW have now been converted too.

We have also included dynamic mapping into these reports - a map of Australia on the main Road Conditions Index page (using iMapPlot™) indicates the status of all our reported roads in Australia using our standard colour-coding system. As with all our iMapPlot™ maps, this can be zoomed in/out for greater detail using 250K base map data.

Most State reports also have an iMapPlot™ map displayed for each Region, with the map pre-zoomed into the appropriate scale to be able to view the information clearly at a glance eg. Kimberley Region, & Outback NSW.

More updates on the progress of this site feature will be discussed in our next newsletter.

Membership Renewals

Just a reminder that if you anticipate being away travelling when your Membership expires, you can pay your Membership in advance prior to receiving your renewal reminder email and invoice.

To do this - simply purchase the Membership Renewal product in the Adventure Shop. We can simply add another year to your existing expiry date and you can go away on your trip confident in the knowledge that your Membership will be ongoing.

Don't forget that although we have a reduced Membership fee for consecutive years of renewal, your payment should be made on, or before, the due date to be eligible for this discount. However, if you are having a problem renewing for whatever reason, just pick up the phone and give us a call!

Focus on Business

It only stands to reason, that on a site like ExplorOz you will be thinking about trips and tours. If you are looking to find a reputable company to take you on a tag-alongs, guided tour, or even a personalised tour, you should be looking in our Business Search section under the TOURS category.

Also check out the Tours Topic Search page with links to related content on the site including articles.
